It is also accessible by land, taking about 8 hours by car. Mugla is around 218 kilometers from Antalya, which can be covered by car in about two hours.

The mausoleum was built in the 4th century BC in memory of a Persian king known for his love of luxury, and his wife wanted his tomb to be equally grand and beautiful. 

The mausoleum rises 45 meters high, combining Greek and Egyptian architectural styles, with a massive square base topped with Ionic columns, and a stepped pyramid crowned with a statue of a chariot pulled by horses. 

The mausoleum's walls were adorned with carvings depicting mythical scenes and famous battles, which explains why it is considered one of the greatest architectural achievements of the ancient world.

Knidos Ruins
